Remembering the Big Dog

This is a little memorial blog for one of the dogs that brought the Jane and Scott show together.  We lost Pogo last week to cancer.  I actually met Pogo before I met Scott – Pogo being by far the most outgoing of the pair.  When they came to the dog park, Scott would be on the far side of the field, and Pogo would be making the rounds, making sure he said hello to every person there – particularly the girls.  If you were really lucky, he wouldn’t just shove his nose into the most convenient personal area, but actually charge across the park and launch himself at you with the full force of 65 pounds of love, energy and fur.  Usually there was mud involved, too, it being Portland. In case you were curious.

Whiffed It.

So that whole open-mic-every-week plan kind of flopped.  Largely due to my inconveniently scheduling an Administrative Law class at the same time as Eddie’s open mic.  Oops. Also, getting into Eddie’s on any kind of regular basis has been rendered completely impossible by the event’s own success.  It’s more like booking a gig than an open mic.  So we’ll be there next on November 2nd, I believe.

In the meantime, we’ve got a show at Bread, which is a little coffee shop on the Emory campus in September, so that’s where the three most recent creative endeavors will debut.  And, if I do say so myself, they will be worth coming out to hear.

Dewy Fresh and Zestfully Clean

Ah, to begin again.  To start anew.  To be shining, sweet and dewy fresh and zestfully clean like a blank slate. . . or like you accidentally deleted your database. . .

There is something sort of poetic about it.  I mean, we are sort of starting a new m.o. with the music, so I guess starting the blog over sort of works.  Here’s what’s going to happen:

Roots.

This Saturday, July 17th, we’re going to play music and drink beer at Java Monkey.  It will awesome, relaxed, and dog friendly.

Then. . . the J&S world changes.

After that show, we’re going to start working on playing new songs in public.  Yup.  We’re going back to our roots and hitting the open mics.  We’ll try and play Eddie’s every Monday, and if not there, then somewhere else in town that week.  I’ll post a little piece of brilliant prose the following morning on where we went, who we saw, and whatever else I feel like gabbing about.

That’s the plan.  Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to come out Saturday night, drink beer and sing along.  Then, check back in with us every Tuesday morning (realistically, probably closer to afternoon) for an update on the happenings in open mic land.

This message may or may not self destruct, so make sure you back up the important stuff.

A cup a cup a cup a cup a cup. . .ah.
