Last Nights Show and Pics!

Sunday, August 16th, 2009

So the show last night went really well.  Scott got rave reviews from everyone about his mad guitar skills (though I don’t think he pogoed once. . .) Jane didn’t cause any major train wrecks, though there were a couple of times during guitar solos when she was very tempted to just stop playing and stare at Scott’s fingers and drool.   Govind the drummer was also fantastic.  Here are a couple of pics, courtesy of The Enabler.

Proof!

I wrote a song.  It was deep, yet subtle, I felt.  Sweet, lyrical, and poignant, I decided.  It metaphorically explores the confusion of growing up and parental relationships and cycling.  It is, in fact, one of my favorite songs that we perform to date.  Unfortunately, it’s meaning has been completely lost on audiences since we moved to Atlanta.  It has become necessary to explain the meaning of the thing before we perform it, which, I feel, diminishes the intensity of the song’s impact.  I find this distressing, more so because it seems to indicate (insert gasp of shock here) a lesser degree of environmentally friendly transportation awareness, and frank indifference to the poor Luddites.

I was informed that they don’t have Burleys here.  I now have proof to the contrary, and henceforth will have no patience whatever with audience members who claim that they don’t know what the hell I’m talking about.  Nor will I relent out of gratitude that they are actually listening to lyrics rather than chugging beer and yelling across the table at their friends.  Because, in the tinsel bedecked, scooter filled 4th of July parade in Decatur, not one, but two Burley’s were in evidence.  (and, omg, cute as hell.)

Burley

I forgot the rules. . .

Am I allowed to talk about the Path with a capital P on here? (Nerd alert! Not the Orson Scott Card Planet – The Great Atlantean Bike Path!) Because I just tootled my way all the way down town on it and it was awesome! Beautiful, green. . .cute shops, lovely scenery, minimal institutional cement, small adorable animals (I did almost squish a chipmunk. But I didn’t.) Fantastic. I had no idea.

No Burly, in case anyone was curious. But I did think of trying to herd my relatives onto it when they visit the ATL. And I saw turtles, which was really exciting for me.

And in honor of this little hooray for Atlanta moment, (because that’s what this is. right now. this moment.) Here is a picture of us singing at the Little Five Points Corner Tavern. I believe it was our first show there.

lil-five-show

and a heads up – we’re working up two new songs, and hope to release them into the wild at Eddie’s attic in a week or two.

love and kisses,
